New Paintings, Soft Openings and the Love of Flowers – Sept 3 – Oct 13, 2020

I am so happy to be able to show you my newest paintings that will grace the walls of Sissiboo Coffee Bar and Gallery for 6 weeks.  This summer we didn’t physically open our artists’ Gallery, Bear River Artworks. We just had a virtual presence.  It never seemed like the right time to open as we waited for life to go back to ‘normal.

In that void of having no Gallery to open and only the rare visitor to the studio, I settled in into my studio and painted and painted and painted. The results will be on display and for sale in Bear River from September 3 to October 14 at Sissiboo Coffee Bar and Gallery in Bear River.

The acts of tending a garden of flowers and vegetables and painting the results, strengthened my belief in Nature’s persistence, endurance and beauty. And aren’t we part of Nature too? I hope you can feel those sentiments in my work and my deep love for the plant world. It is a theme that I continue to explore.

Normally, I would have hoped for a bustling, crowded opening of my exhibition, but that’s neither wise nor possible under current covid19 safety protocols.

Instead, I have picked a few days and times when I will be at the café sipping a fabulous latte and will be there for a visit and a chat with you about the paintings or about anything else that comes up.

Those dates are:

Thursday, September 3, 2020

Friday, September 11

Wednesday, September 23

Saturday, October 10

I will be at the Cafe from 2 PM until 4 PM

Please bring your mask.

You can suggest another time to see the paintings with me or come on your own or with a friend as the Cafe is open daily until 4pm.

The paintings will hang in Bear River until the middle of October. Some of them will move to Sissiboo Coffee in Annapolis Royal from mid October until the end of November.

Here is a one minute video of most of the paintings. I was trying to visualise if I had enough for the long walls at Sissiboo Coffee. [wpvideo M5Pw47f6]

Sissiboo Coffee, 1886 Clementsvale Road, Bear River, Nova Scotia is open seven days a week from early morning to 4 PM. Tables are spaced far apart from each other, social distancing is observed and masks are worn unless seated at a table. The coffee is sincerely fabulous, the staff are friendly, and the owners Jon and Erin Welch, are long time supporters of local artists, musicians and community development.
