The first Turks Cap lily. Each flowerthat blooms…from Lupins to tulips to flocks generally lasts for 3 weeks , then done! So there’s always a pressure about getting it painted. Every. Single. Year. And there is nothing as thrilling as painting from life. #orange #flowers

Acrylic painting on canvas 18" x 24"...in progress.
Clearing the way for new growth. A dozen years of wild roses had made part of our backyard impassable… Even for the deer and the pheasants. Friends Rick and Noreen came to the rescue with power tools and mulched it all down to the ground in an hour! Even the patterning of the mulch is gorgeous.
I think it's finished.
The daylilies dance in the breeze on long stalks. The japanese lupin were finished off by the heat. I've been adding to this painting for 3 years now. #lilies #novascotiaartist #floralpainting #art #flowers #floradoehler #bearriverartist #artincanada
Hot summer and hot colours…I’m enjoying the colours and textures of this 30x40” painting started last summer.
“Entangled” 18” x 24”, acrylic on canvas. Solomon’s Seal inspired this painting. One of the first perennials to emerge in the Spring, it holds its bell shaped white flowers in a gentle arch among its dense leaves. #acrylicpainting #solomonseal #novascotiaart #green #bearriverns
