Inspired by lupins and delphiniums, the blue flowers of Spring in Nova Scotia, I painted this after a welcome deluge of rain. I turned the flowers upside down and gently shook the raindrops off so that I could bring them into the studio to paint without the weight of the rain breaking the flowers. The wetness added to the intensity of the colours in the blooms so it seemed fitting to create a painting assisted by a lot of water on the canvas.
This is painted using transparent acrylic inks on canvas and double sealed with acrylic varnish.
